Massage

Holistic massage is a combination of massage and bodywork techniques drawn from many traditions and therapies, combined with care and attention to meet your specific needs. The power of massage comes from the combination of a welcome touch, well received by you and the ability to relax and allow your mind to switch off in a safe and secure environment. It takes the whole of you into consideration, both physically and mentally, and brings you many benefits such as:

  • Deep mental and physical relaxation
  • Pain relief from everyday niggles or sporting activities
  • Relief from tight muscles
  • Improved circulation and joint mobility
  • Soothing a busy mind
  • Reducing stress
  • Creating a sense of wellbeing
  • Giving you some time out from a busy schedule

Thanks to amazing training and continual professional development I have a wide and varied range of techniques at my fingertips:

  • Swedish massage techniques such as effleurage (superficial pressure), petrissage (deeper pressure), kneading, compression and friction
  • Deep tissue and trigger point massage
  • Percussive techniques such as pummelling, tapping and chopping
  • Energy holds
  • Passive joint mobilisations
  • Myofascial release
  • Lymphatic drainage
  • Postural analysis

My Approach

My approach has evolved since I qualified. I have discovered more about the body and mind and how they respond to massage and am continually learning new techniques which are more effective at providing relief from discomfort. During massage I use a slow to steady pace with firm pressure with an intuitive approach, really listening to what your muscles and tissues are telling me. The slower pace allows the brain to receive information about the changes taking place, resulting in more lasting change.

Each massage is bespoke, I don’t follow a routine so it’s only once I have started the massage that I can I select the appropriate techniques to use. These might change during the massage according to what I feel, how your body responds and the feedback you give me.

What is consistent in my approach is that everything is centred on you and the outcome you’re looking for. It’s your time on the table to take from it what you need. I aim to make you feel super comfortable to allow for deep relaxation and relief from discomforts.
