Holistic Massage Therapy in Weston Super Mare

Holistic massage is a combination of massage and bodywork techniques drawn from many traditions and therapies. These techniques are blended with care and attention to meet your specific needs. The power of massage comes from the mix of a welcome touch, well received by you and the ability to relax and allow your mind to switch off in a safe and secure environment. It takes the whole of you into consideration and may bring you benefits such as:

  • Deep mental and physical relaxation
  • Pain relief from everyday niggles or sporting activities
  • Relief from tight muscles
  • Improved circulation and joint mobility
  • Soothing a busy mind
  • Reducing stress
  • Creating a sense of wellbeing
  • Giving you some time out from a busy schedule

My Approach

My approach to massage has evolved since I qualified. As I have discovered more about the body and mind and how they respond to bodywork I tend not to do full sessions of massage. I use mainly myofascial release and add in elements of massage to create the best treatment possible.

When massage is appropriate for you, I use a slow to steady pace with firm pressure and intuitive approach, really listening to what your muscles and tissues are telling me. The slower pace allows the brain to receive information about the changes taking place, resulting in more lasting change.

What is consistent in my approach is that everything is centred on you and the outcome you’re looking for.

Massage Techniques

Thanks to the great training I received at the Bristol College of Massage and Bodywork and continual professional development I have a wide and varied range of techniques that I am able to integrate into treatments, such as:

  • Swedish massage techniques such as effleurage (superficial pressure), petrissage (deeper pressure), kneading, compression and friction
  • Deep tissue and trigger point massage
  • Percussive techniques such as pummelling, tapping and chopping
  • Energy holds
  • Passive joint mobilisations
  • Lymphatic drainage
  • Postural analysis

Each treatment is bespoke, I don’t follow a routine so it’s only once I have started the treatment that I can I select the appropriate techniques to use. These might change during the session according to what I feel, how your body responds and the feedback you give me.
